Mechanical Vibration Switches

5550 / 5550G Mechanical Vibration Switches
Description
This affordable, inertia-sensitive vibration switch is built to protect low-to-medium-speed machinery. When vibration exceeds an adjustable level, the switch will either activate an alarm or shut down the equipment. The Metrix mechanical vibration switch is designed to meet all requirements in a single, affordable package.
It provides vibration protection for low-to-medium speed machinery. An inertia-sensitive mechanism activates a snap-action switch with SPDT output contacts if the vibration exceeds an adjustable setpoint. The 5550 mechanical vibration switch contacts can be used to activate an alarm or initiate equipment shutdown.
The housing is weatherproof with an optional hazardous area rating. Electrical (remote) reset with start-up time delay and a second set of SPDT output contacts to accommodate DPDT needs (e.g., separate trip and trip light circuits) are available. The 5550G uses identical internal mechanisms, but carries an IECEX rating ideal for IIC gas group applications.

SW5580 Smart Vibration Switch
Description
The SW5580 accepts signals from machine casing mounted velocity sensors, accelerometers or shaft observing proximity probe systems and produce a 4-20 mA output proportional to the measured variable. Using the free Metrix software, the user may configure signal input types for one or two independent channels. For each channel, a green LED indicates sensor and cable integrity. In the event of sensor failure, the LED changes to red and the output current is driven below 3.6 mA, thereby signaling a malfunction. In the SW5580, each channel comes with two optional relays, either solid state or dry contacts, that can be configured for alarm level and time delay. The alarm status is indicated by the LED flashing yellow for Alert and flashing red for Danger. A BNC connector gives access to the raw input signal prior to any filtering for local analysis. A built-in 4-line alpha-numeric LCD display is used to display both dynamic input and 4-20 mA output signals. Isolation is provided between input, outputs and supply.

440 Economical Switch (Single or Dual)
Description
The 440 switch is suitable for use in non-hazardous as well as Class I Div 2 hazardous areas. Options are available for electronic (triac or FET) or electromechanical relay outputs, allowing the switch to be used in an auto-shutdown circuit that trips the machine under high vibration conditions. SR versions provide a single alarm setpoint and corresponding discrete output. DR versions provide two independent alarm setpoints and corresponding discrete outputs, allowing implementation of Alert (pre-shutdown) and Danger (shutdown) levels. A separate 4-20 mA proportional output is also provided on all switch models, allowing connection to PLCs, DCSs, strip chart recorders, or other process control systems where vibration levels can be trended.
Applications
-
Pumps & Compressors
-
Fans & Blowers
-
Motors & Generators
-
Gearboxes & Centrifuges

5539 BNC Patch Panel 4
This module can accept up to four separate dynamic signal inputs and is meant to provide easy access to dynamic data. The Metrix 5539 BNC Patch Panel 4 is a DIN rail mounted BNC interface module that accepts up to four two-wire sensor inputs and provides isolated BNC outputs for permanently installed sensors or transmitters. It acts as a terminal block to transfer the two-wired dynamic signal to BNC jacket accessible format. This BNC interface unit does not supply sensor excitation. If using a transmitter, the 4-20mA circuit supplies the dynamic signal excitation without impacting the 4-20mA signal.
